Breath as medicine: a beginner's guide to pranayama

Of everything we teach, breathwork is the most underrated. It requires no flexibility, no equipment, and no prior experience — and it’s one of the fastest ways to shift how your body feels, right now.
Start with one technique
Box breathing is the easiest entry point: inhale for four counts, hold for four, exhale for four, hold for four. Repeat for two minutes. It’s simple enough to do at a desk and effective enough to be taught to elite athletes and first responders for exactly this reason — it calms the nervous system on demand.
Why it works
Slow, even breathing signals safety to your nervous system, which lowers heart rate and reduces the stress response almost immediately. Unlike most wellness advice, the effect is measurable within minutes, not weeks.
Where to go from here
Once box breathing feels familiar, our Meditation & Breathwork sessions build from there — longer holds, alternate-nostril techniques, and breath practices matched to specific goals, from better sleep to pre-performance calm.
